Corporate Responsibilities
As Controller of Commonwealth Lodging Management, Ryan is responsible for all property accounting functions, including tax return and audited financial reporting preparation, monthly and quarterly financial reporting preparation, lease administration, accounting systems, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processing.

Experience
Ryan joined Commonwealth Lodging Management in 2012 as a property accountant and was responsible for a portfolio of commercial properties in the Virginia Beach market. In early 2013, he took on additional and more diverse property accounting responsibilities. As part of his responsibilities, he converted all hotel accounting to M3, a specialized hotel accounting ERP. In 2016, he was promoted to Hospitality Accounting Manager, overseeing all financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll, and other hotel accounting functions, as well as acquisition duties including credit card processing setup and interfacing property management systems with M3 to automate daily revenue and hotel transaction reporting. Ryan was promoted to Accounting Manager – Institutional & Hospitality in 2017, broadening his scope of oversight to all institutional commercial real estate and hotel property accounting. Before becoming Controller in 2020, Ryan was promoted to Assistant Controller in 2019, taking on the additional supervisory duties of portfolio tax return preparation and audited financial reporting. Prior to joining the company, Ryan began his career in local public accounting and consulting firms, where he prepared monthly financial reports and income tax returns for small businesses.

Education
Ryan received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009.
